Ovulation occurs towards the end of this week or the beginning of the next. |
• |
If you have sexual intercourse as early as the middle of this week, it is possible that you may get pregnant even though ovulation may not have occurred, as sperm (especially "female" sperm) can live for a few days. |
• |
The father's sperm will take about 10 hours to navigate to the egg, and just 1 out of several hundred million sperm will fertilize the egg in the fallopian tube. |
• |
If the sperm has an X chromosome, you'll have a girl; if the sperm has a Y chromosome, the baby will be a boy. |

Your uterine lining is thickening, and your body is producing an egg that is maturing. Ovulation will occur around the end of this week as the egg is released into the fallopian tube. |
• |
If you have unprotected sexual intercourse within a few days before or after ovulation, pregnancy will occur if just one of your partner's millions of sperm reaches and fertilizes the egg. |

Now would be a good time to check on your family's medical history. About 75% of complications with pregnancy and birth can be identified at the first visit. |
